When Love Goes Wrong: The Silent Patient Review

Hello there!

I trust you’re doing well! Today is an exceptional day for me as I’m venturing out of my comfort zone, all thanks to some incredible colleagues who gave me the push I needed 📍

Have you ever noticed that when you love something, you attract others who love it too? It’s like a magnet that draws you toward people with similar interests. For instance, if you’re a cricket lover, you’ll always find someone in the room who shares the same passion. Similarly, for us book lovers 📚 we connect with each other effortlessly, and our conversations can go on for hours without even realizing it 💜

I wanted to share a special conversation with you today. At work, I’m blessed to be a part of a group of avid readers. We share our favorite books and talk about the ones that keep us up at night or make us wake up early just to keep reading…

Have you ever heard of a book that keeps popping up everywhere you look? For me, that book was The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. I saw it in bookstores, but I never picked it up. That is until my friend gave me a gentle nudge to expand my reading horizons beyond work. And boy, I’m glad he did!

This debut by Alex Michaelides captivated me from the very first page. It was so compelling that I asked my husband to take Anaisha to swim instead of his cricket practice, just so I could find out the reason behind Alicia’s brutal act of killing Gabriel 😉 Here’s a quick rundown of the plot: Once upon a time, Alicia Berenson painted beautiful pictures until one day she painted a gruesome scene – the murder of her husband. Her silence for six years was shattered by the arrival of Theo Faber, a psychotherapist with a thirst for answers 🔮

Hold your horses🐎, I won’t be the one spoiling it for you! But trust me, the beginning of this book is nothing short of a wild ride from love to hate. From mad love to bad blood – that’s how The Silent Patient begins 😲 This novel takes you through the fascinating journey of a power couple, Alicia and Gabriel, whose marriage ends with a gunshot. But the real question is, what caused Alicia to pull the trigger?

The most intriguing aspect of this story is how the protagonist, Alicia, became completely silent after shooting her husband in the face. She’s known as the ‘Silent Patient,’ 🤫 and the question on everyone’s mind is whether she’s truly guilty or if the evidence has been framed. Truly, it’s more than just a novel; it’s a psychological rollercoaster that will leave you breathless and wanting more!  If you’re a fan of complex and compelling characters, ‘The Silent Patient’ won’t disappoint. As the story delves deeper another character that gravitates on your mind is Theo Faber, who is a psychotherapist with a curious mind and a determination to unravel the mystery of why Alicia shot her husband 🔫 Theo is the kind of character that stays with you long after you finish the book. He’s smart, flawed, and fiercely determined to uncover the truth behind Alicia’s silence. You won’t want to miss this one!

If you’re a fan of the unexpected and love a good page-turner 📄, then this is the book for you! With its gripping mystery and thrilling suspense, this novel will keep you on the edge of your seat, eagerly turning each page to find out what happens next. With plenty of twists and surprises along the way, you’ll never know what to expect – making this a must-read for any fan of the genre. It’s like the author, Alex Michaelides, is a magician who keeps pulling off new tricks to make your mind work in ways you had long forgotten 🧠 Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, the story takes a sharp turn and leaves you with a fresh mystery to unravel. In fact, the writing style is a breath of fresh air, making it easy for the reader to connect with the characters on a deeper level.

The story is well crafted, and the ending will blow your mind 🤯 As you read the book, you’ll find yourself getting deeply invested in Alicia and Theo’s stories. They feel like real people, with all their flaws and complexities, and you can’t help but empathize with them. While it’s true that The Silent Patient pays homage to the classic whodunit style of Agatha Christie, it’s a testament to the author’s skill that the book feels fresh and thrilling throughout. A must-read for you this weekend 😃

Cheers,
